First the Urban Diner Awards. April 6, 2009 held at Voya at The Loden Hotel.

Angus An, chef/owner of Gastropod(soon to be Maenam) and my boss man. He was on medication for a cold and shouldn’t have been drinking, but oh well…you just get drunk faster.
First the Urban Diner awards and then a week later the Van Mag awards…oh no, we’re in trouble. The thing with these awards, well to me anyway, is it’s all about the party. Sure I’m always curious as to who’s going to win restaurant or chef of the year, but really. Free booze. Need I say more? The restaurant industry is notorious for it’s partying ways. So you know when a party is being thrown to celebrate the ulitmate party-ers it’s going to be a good one. I’m going to apologize in advance…I remember key winners but so much alcohol was consumed that everything else is kinda a blur. I’m a douche and I’m sorry.
So off to the Urban Diner awards first. This year they were held at Voya and it was my first year attending. Rather than speeches Paul opted for shots of Tequila for the winners. Now I don’t really know Paul, in fact I just met him at the Van Mag awards, but he’s my kinda guy. Less talking more drinking! Yah! For the complete list of winners click here.

Two lovely ladies of the Top Table empire, Alia from Araxi and Kate who does P.R.

Do you think everytime chefs get together they just swap recipes?

Bryan snuck out from the kitchen to say hello. Looks good considering it was his birthday the night before…

Robert Belcam from Fuel, chef of the year and all around nice guy. He can’t even look menacing while pointing a knife at you!

Alvin of Campagnolo and Ted of Fuel

It’s all very serious business this watching of the awards.

Everyone loves a reason to get all dressed up and don’t these boys look dapper?

Paul with Luck of the soon to open Circa

“I feel like I know you but I don’t really know you”
“Is it cuz of Butter on the Endive? You’re on there lots and so am I”

“Haha! I’m Celeste, good friend and pastry chef. It’s nice to meet you in person Jeff”

That’s it that’s all…see you next week at Van Mag…ugh…
