Time is quickly slipping through my fingers and it’s already mutha fuckin’ September.Page_1August came in like a giant gust of wind and swept out just as quickly.  I mean, where has the time gone?  I feel like summer is running away from me and it’s running super fast.  Sprinting if you will.  Anyway, I’ll admit that I have been quite the slacker recently with the blogging but I blame it on the heat. It’s hot…all I want to do is drink beer and cocktails and just chill out. Besides, that’s the basis of this blog isn’t it?  What happens when we’re not at work…which, more times than not, involves at least one if not all three of those things.  So if you really think about it I wasn’t slacking at all. In fact I was hard at work on stories for all of you!  And let me tell you, August was a busy month full of birthdays, friends visiting and friends leaving.  So keep reading for a recap of all that happened this past month.

My Little Nathan’s Birthday!

Page_2So the month started off with us celebrating Nathan’s birthday at Hapa Izakya.  We ate lots of delicious food and drank lots of sake.  Way to much sake to do anyone any good.

Au Revoir Benny!

Page_1Benny said good bye to Maenam in August and it hasn’t been the same since. Don’t get me wrong, I still go there often.  The new bar staff is wonderful but it’s just not the same.  I miss my buddy Benny, the tattooed dirtbag, behind the bar knowing exactly what I like to drink and how I like to drink it.  I also really miss his hugs. After I shit night at work I always knew I could go there get an awesome soul-healing hug, have a delicious cocktail and then know that everything was all good again.

You may be old and sick but Dave Gahan, you’ve still got it…

Page_1Not really restaurant related but too fucking bad.  It’s my blog and I can post whatever I want!  My sister and I drove out to Seattle for the day and saw Depeche Mode at the Key Arena.  I fucking love Depeche Mode and I fucking love the fact that we went!  It was an awesome day. Her husband packed us a lunch for the drive down, we found free parking and we spent only $20 the entire day on pre-concert nachos and an icy cold bucket of 8 Coronitas.  Fuck yah!

Pour Toujors Maxim!  You will be in my heart pour toujours!
Page_1About a year ago my friends Max and Holly  moved to Montreal and it was a sad sad day.  I met the two of them at West where we all worked together and where the two of them hooked up.  Now I’ll admit I have been a shitty friend over the year and have really sucked at this keeping in touch business but not them.  Max actually sent me a letter in the mail and the two of them called me on my birthday!  They’re wonderful and I will have them in my heart pour toujours, just like Max’s shirt says!

We’ve only just met and poof!  Now you’re gone!

Page_1Dear Tony, we were just getting to know eachother.  We just started working together.  You left me.  You left us all.  Good luck in Taiwan.  Jerk.  Love always, Celeste

Greggy turns one year older!

Off to Rodney’s we go to gorge on oysters and heaps and heaps of wine.  I think everyone was pretty drunk by the time we were done at Rodney’s but that didn’t stop us from continuing on to first Boneta then Revel Room.  Oh man, what a stupid night.  I’m pretty sure everyone there was still paying for it the next day…

Piss off you Aussie and Kiwi fucks!

I randomly ran into these guys at Maenam after work one night.  They had worked the lunch shift at db bistro and had decided to go for dinner at Maenam where Angus cooked for them.  They were still there when I went in to meet Tara after that evenings service and we all went for drink.  Poor Scotty had to work the next morning but being the nice guy that he is and after not much persuasion he came along.

Unconfirmed and I still showed up mon petit cho cho!
Happy Birthday!

Page_3And to celebrate the last day of August and Chris Cho’s 26th birthday we all went to his place and had a party.  Poor Cho had a little too much to drink but it could’ve been worse.  In fact, it should’ve been.  It was your birthday Cho, you should’ve been topless and passed out!

So there you have it.  That was August.  I wonder what September has in store for us….guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
